ANDREW ANTONIOU

Andrew Antoniou, born 1951 in London studied at Harrow College of Art, Winchester School of art and the Central School of Art and Design. In 1998 he was awarded a residency at the Canberra School of Art and in 2001 he was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers. He has also been a finalist five times in the Dobell Drawing Prize, won the 2006 Tyree Tycan Works On Paper Prize and was awarded an Australia Council New Works grant. Andrew was recently elected as a Fellow of The Royal Of Etchers in London. He is represented by many major Australian galleries.

His work reflects “the circus of the mind “, scapes and narratives of human interaction and complexity, questions of experience and raison d'etre. This collection of prints is based firmly in a tradition of theatrical composition and poetical narrative. Being drawn in is only half the experience of viewing these pieces – projecting yourself into the dialogue, which is inescapable, is the other. - Allan Baptist, Shoalhaven Art Gallery  Click on a work for more detail and to shop.
